Seriously funny character actress
Mary McTigue has appeared a variety of roles in over 75 Equity productions: Off-Broadway she was in Vanities at Chelsea Theatre, in Night Watch and In the Shadow of the Glen at Equity Library Theatre NYC, Who’s Happy Now? at Hudson Guild, O’Neill’s Long Voyage Home at Apple Corps, in Richard III at Riverside Shakespeare, and in Gurney’s Scenes from American Life at Trinity Theatre. In regional theatre, Mary’s played lead roles in Priestly’s Dangerous Corner at Syracuse Stage, Durang’s History of the American Film at Hartford Stage, Coward’s Fallen Angels at Portland Stage and Present Laughter at The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ, Tooth of Crime at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, and in six Neil Simon plays including Rumors at PaperMill, Faye in Chapter II at Woodstock, and M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias at the Whole Theatre. She’s appeared with stars too numerous to mention.
Active in film and soaps and a longtime member of SAG-AFTRA, Mary has played featured roles in films such as Masquerade starring Rob Lowe and Meg Tilly, in Men in Black III starring Will Smith, and in recurring and principle roles on All My Children, Another World, Edge of Night, As The World Turns, Ryan’s Hope, and in numerous business films and commercials. Her introduction to professional theatre was co-starring with Pat Proft (writer/producer Naked Gun, Hot Shots, etc) at an improvisational theatre in Omaha. A native of Minnesota, Mary earned her Master’s in theatre at Montclair State while teaching there, and also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. She is the author of a published book titled Acting Like a Pro.
